Immanuel Helps Turkey Trotters with Thanksgiving Meals

Early Thanksgiving Day morning, 11 volunteers from Immanuel gathered with other volunteers from Turkey Trotters at Robilio’s Sidecar Café to help pack 117 Thanksgiving meals and then deliver the meals to families in need in the Memphis area.  Starting the day by serving others was a practical way to demonstrate the meaning of Thanksgiving and meet a physical need while giving thanks to God. Meeting real needs where they exist encourages us to go and do what is necessary wherever that may lead. Whether its visiting with the aging baby boomer or being welcomed by the barefoot, tattooed gen Xer and his pack of dogs in midtown Memphis, or telling a millennial mom and her son in an empty, rundown apartment in south Memphis that Jesus loves them – all while providing them a meal, you remember that hope is the light that shines on Thanks Giving Day.
