Immanuel Lutheran School’s “Celebrate America” event with this year’s theme, A Salute to Our Heroes, was held on November 7 to honor members of all armed services branches in conjunction with Veterans Day.  This special program, presented by our 3rd-6th grade students, included a welcome by Keegan Davidson (Student Government Association President), opening prayer by U.S. Navy Chaplain Mike Sneath, pledges to the Flag and the Cross, our National Anthem, and a variety of student-led patriotic songs.  The program also included narrated parts about Flag Facts, What is a Veteran?, Heroes, and a Thank You Letter, as well as the Armed Forces Medley.  LCDR Dave Mowbray, Command Chaplain, from the Naval Support Activity Mid-South in Millington, was our guest speaker.  Pastor Greg offered a closing prayer.  Our students – singers, soloists, narrators, artists, decorators, greeters – did a wonderful job in making this a memorable event that honored those past and present who have sacrificed to protect our country and keep us free!
