Students and an instructor from SBA’s Drone Program shared an exciting exploration of modern flight through the use of radio-controlled aerial drones with 5th-7th grade students at Immanuel Lutheran School. The Program was held in Immanuel’s gym on May 9. Working with drones includes learning basic electric circuitry, creation of drone electrical subcomponents, final assembly of an aerial drone, and learning the basics of drone flight along with the practical capabilities of aerial drones. The Director of Transformational Technology of Woz U (Woz U was inspired by the co-founder of Apple) talked about drone technology. ILS students flew drones, maneuvered robotic devices, and used iPads to operate gyrospheres that had been programmed with an app to respond to commands.
