Immanuel Helps Provide Wheelchair for Child

Each time Immanuel’s Guatemala mission team visits the village of El Durazno, we visit families in their homes to share the Gospel, pray, and see how they are doing.  After doing this for some years now, we notice how things seem to change – often for the better.  Except for one young boy.  Jordi is lame.  Unless his mother, who has a number of children, carries him around, Jordi is relegated to sitting on a dirt floor in a small pen in their home.  Jordi’s mother, Gladis, loves all of her children very much.  It’s very evident during our visits.  But such has been Jordi’s life…until now.

Immanuel in working with our mission partners through the Central American Lutheran Mission Society (CALMS) and Hope Haven International have provided a customized wheelchair for Jordi.  Wheelchairs help transform daily life for recipients and their families and offer a profound witness to the love of Jesus.  Not only is mobility provided but with it comes hope.  Hope Haven has a wheelchair workshop in Antigua, Guatemala, so being able to do this is an answered prayer for Jordi’s family and for us.
