Immanuel sent a mission team to Guatemala during July 8-15. The team’s mission work impacted the villages of Laguna Seca and El Salitre, as well as Igelsia Luterana La Santa Cruz in Amatitlan, which are located several hours from Guatemala City. Our theme this year was “Jesus – Wellspring to Eternal Life” based on John 4:14. This was our tenth year working in Guatemala. The team shared and demonstrated the Gospel by participating in worship at Iglesia Luterana Castillo Fuerte in Guatemala City and Iglesia Luterana La Santa Cruz in Amatitlan; teaching Bible stories and English classes to 175 students at Laguna Seca school; hosting a session with over 100 mothers at Laguna Seca school to explain how valuable they are to God; teaching Bible stories and music classes to the youth at La Santa Cruz; conducting a daily Bible study for parents at La Santa Cruz; purchasing and distributing “Jesus Blesses the Children” Arch Books to Laguna Seca students and teachers for their families; providing cross necklaces made from olive wood to students and teachers at Laguna Seca school and youth at La Santa Cruz; teaching hygiene education and providing 50 hygiene kits to youth at La Santa Cruz; providing 20 copies of “My First Bible Story Book” to El Salitre families; purchasing 50 lime trees from El Salitre nursery and planting trees while visiting families in Laguna Seca; mentoring older youth in leadership roles; visiting with students being sponsored for education scholarships; providing medical supplies for clinic; and providing Mission Ball (soccer ball) for La Santa Cruz youth ministry.
