Immanuel sent a 12-member mission team to Guatemala during June 10-17.  The team’s mission work was primarily in the mountain village of El Durazno, El Salitre, and La Santa Cruz medical clinic at Lake Amatitlan, which are located several hours from Guatemala City.  This was our fourth year working there.  The team shared and demonstrated the Gospel by visiting and praying with families in their homes, teaching Bible stories, and working with the children’s ministry; teaching English and reading classes to children; working on a cross-cultural school project; providing a dental clinic (with three dentists and three dental hygienists); and providing over 300 hygiene kits to promote a healthy community.  We spent one afternoon working with secretarial students on their English grammar at the Institute at Amatitlan.  The team also purchased 58 avocado and lime trees at a local nursery and planted them at family homes in El Durazno and El Salitre.

Team members included Dr. Joseph Dove, Stephanie Glanzer, Allison Hancock, Kenia Loya, Ed Mell, Dr. Anthony Polk, Diane Reimold, Maria Rincon, Kasandra Rogers, Fhany Santos, Joe Snyder, and Brooke VanCanneyt.  Stephanie, Brooke, and Allison arrived in Guatemala on June 3.  They taught ESL and reading classes and music (recorder), worked with the children’s ministry, and were with our team the week we were there.  The team provided school supplies to the El Durazno School teachers and the children’s ministry at La Santa Cruz.  We also visited and worked with several students (and their families) who are being provided educational scholarships through our Immanuel family.  We appreciate the prayers and support from Immanuel.  God prepared the way for us and His presence through the power and work of the Holy Spirit were very evident during our time there.
