At 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 24 (Thanksgiving morning), Turkey Trotters volunteers will gather at Robilio’s Sidecar Café (2194 Whitten Road, Memphis 38133) to pack boxes of food, enjoy some breakfast, and then deliver Thanksgiving Day meals to families in need in the Memphis area.  If you can help pack and deliver meals with Turkey Trotters, please sign the sign-up sheet on the Information Desk in the church lobby at Immanuel or contact Ed Mell at emell72@bellsouth.net or 849-2751.  You can pack and deliver meals (you’ll probably be home by 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.) or just pack meals.  What a wonderful way to start off a day dedicated to giving thanks to God by serving others!

Turkey Totters is a non-profit volunteer organization founded by Robert “Punch” Pearson (1961-2002).  Mr. Pearson wanted his children and others to truly understand the meaning of Thanksgiving by meeting with and helping those less fortunate.  Each year on Thanksgiving morning, volunteers deliver traditional food to families in need.  Support of Turkey Trotters annual golf tournament, along with food donations by many generous businesses in the Mid-South area, help offset the costs of food for this organization and allow the tradition to continue.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,…whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”  -Jesus-
